Put out all the wiring diagrams on the table, stretching about 10 feet wide. I found all the places the wires were labelled ORG. There's a lot of things connected to an orange wire. OK, why did I do this? I found there's an orange wire going into the ign coil relay (under hood) and it's saying 12+ volts. It is connected to both the ECCS and IGN relays. These relays show 12+volts at BOTH terminals in the activator part of the relay. It's sort of suspicious. There's another orange wire in the same harness, which may have been miswired. It shows zero volts. Now, interestingly, the door solenoid does not work, and it uses an orange wire with 12 volts in it. It stopped working after the anti-theft device was installed. My plan now is to try reversing these two orange wires. I will try reversing them and just trying the door locks to see if that changes. If it does, then probably we are ok to try the ignition and starting the car. I don't want to force things with the wrong wiring, I worry something could be hurt by that. Afterall, how do I know that the 12 volts at both terminals is really a problem? I don't. It would seem you can't get a current across two positive wires to work a relay switch, but there could be other things going on that I can only guess at. I'm writing all this possibly for a FAQ for others to refer to if I can ever get this car running again. If anyone knows and wants to add to it please do so. thnx, bob :I've got all the symptoms of PTU fail, sudden death, no spark at the plugs afterwards, occasional sputter on start attempt, died while driving then came back in seconds, now will NOT start though spins fast on trying to start. :My ECU is flashing "42" which I've read is the Fuel Temperature Sensor. (that should not occasion no spark it would seem to me). :Can the ECU pass the PTU test and yet the PTU is failing/failed? :My PTU is black "Nissan" and was replaced by the recall program in 1994, 14 years ago. It is located on the front timing belt cover. The car is fully-built 480hp TT, ran awhile in Utah where I imagine the heat is intense in summer. Now in Redmond WA where it's still cold in May!! :any ideas/comments/wisdom/experience like this? :tnx alot, everyone's been really helpful here! :Bob
